Twisted Tyvek
You can letter it, stain it, dye it, paint it, paste it, stamp it, stitch it; but you can’t tear it ... twisted tyvek! The unique characteristics of this modern material are endless. It has excellent archival qualities -- is neutral pH and will not yellow or deteriorate. It is a perfect backdrop for calligraphic pieces. It can be made to look like leather, or melted for textured effects. Use it for broadsides, lettering, covering books, boxes, use it for hinges, make note cards, place cards, jewelry, beads and backgrounds. The list is endless. This class will cover the basics of how to use this material, lettering techniques including using resist, staining and painting techniques, how to create texture, make embellishments and beads. All participants will go home with a CD case or frame made with tyvek, lettered, colored, embellished and decorated with tyvek beads.
This is a two day workshop designed for all skill levels. No previous experience required. It can be modified for a one day workshop.
