Acorn Arts
Calligraphy - Education - Illumination

Acorn Arts, Harvest Crittenden’s studio, specializes in online classes. Harvest began teaching online in 2010 (after 20+ years of teaching in-person workshops) and the courses have proved to be a huge success drawing students from more than 45 countries. Students LOVE the opportunity to learn at home. No need to be online at a particular time, students are able to view the videos when they choose during the class semester. Watch as often as you like at a time that works for you. A project is suggested (but never required) and is uploaded to a private student forum for gentle critiquing under the watchful eye of a dedicated instructor. It's a great way to study with friends even if those friends are across the country or across the globe!
Acorn Arts has expanded to offer a wonderful selection of online classes with an outstanding group of talented international guest artists throughout the year, as well as Harvest’s courses. We are in the process of making a video that highlights this experience and shows how it works. Harvest continues to teach in-person workshops around the globe as her schedule permits.

Calligraphy & Illumination
Harvest is an accomplished lettering artist with 35 years experience. In 2010 Harvest was granted the honor of being inducted as a Master Penman by the International Association of Master Penman, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting.  IAMPETH is an international, non-profit association dedicated to practicing and preserving the beautiful arts of calligraphy, engrossing and fine penmanship. IAMPETH is one of the oldest lettering arts associations in America. Harvest was the 10th person to be honored with the Master Penman designation since the program began.

Harvest teaches workshops specializing in Illumination, Borders, Gilding, Calligraphy and Vellum. She has served on the faculties of numerous regional, national and international conferences as well as teaching workshops worldwide. Classes fill fast so make sure to reserve your spot early!

Harvest also serves as the Director of The Spencerian Saga. Held each October at Geneva on the Lake, Ohio, the Saga offers a unique opportunity to study Spencerian penmanship where Platt Rogers Spencer first taught this lettering style. Come join her as we immerse ourselves in lettering with trips to his monument and the places that inspired him. You'll find more information in the Spencerian Saga section.

Whether she is  illuminating a certificate, a prayer, working on calfskin vellum or the finest paper, designing a monogram, logo, or creating original artwork, she gives each project her undivided attention. With personalized, professional service and attention to detail that is reminiscent of days gone by, her clients know that their project is in good hands. She accepts corporate as well as private commissions as her teaching schedule permits.
